Roofing publications
Loke most trades, a number of publications are devoted to the needs of the roofing business. These publications are the venues in which manufacturers and other suppliers announce new products to the industry in general. The publications also generally contain useful information for business owners and for roofer concerns in general
- The Roofers Coffee Shop publishes a tabloid size monthly, the Roofers Exchange. It is published in 6 regional editions and facilitates regional advertising, but the editions contain some similar content in the articles.
- Roofing Contractor Magazine, published by industry/trade specialist publisher BNP covers all aspects of the roofing industry: manufacturing, distribution and the roofing contractor business, both commercial and residential.
- Western Roofing Magazine, published by Dodson Publications, covers residential and commercial roofing generally and provides updates for the state and regional roofing contractor associations in the western states and western Canada.
Roofing Contractor Associations and other related trade associations
Roofing contractor associations, like other membership associations, offer a wide range of benefits to their members. Often they are able to offer group insurance and other similar programs. Thier most typical offerings are in the area of education. For roofing contractors, this tends to focus on several areas - OSHA compliance, cost management, and developments in roofing materials.
- The Alberta Roofing Contractors Association serves the Alberta roofing industry by providing leadership through the development and promotion of standards, education and professional delivery of roofing services. Calgary.
- The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association represents the majority of North America's asphalt roofing manufacturing companies, plus their raw material suppliers. The association includes almost 95 percent of the nation's manufacturers of bituminous-based roofing products. ARMA holds four significant meetings per year and sponsors the International Roofing Exposition (see below).
- The Associated Roofing Contractors of Bay Area Counties. (ARCBAC) is a non-profit trade organization representing many of the oldest and finest contractors and companies in the Bay Area roofing industry. - The Colorado Roofing Association promotes ethical standards, continuing education and improving the image of roofing contractors across the state.
- The Metal Construction Association promotes all types of metal construction, including metal roofing. It offers specialized training and advocacy in this line.
- The National Roofing Contractor Association is the most important of the associations. It offers many benefits including access to training and certification programs and preferential rates on insurance. NRCA also is the organizational sponsor of the big annual International Roofing Expo (see below).
- Midwest Roofing Contractor Association an association of roofing contractors “that have joined together to develop and administer programs and services that help member companies build their business, save them money while continually working to improve the roofing industry.”
- New Mexico Roofing Contractors Association offers learning opportunities and regular meetings to discuss business and legislative issues and to exchange knowledge of best practices.
- North East Roofing Contractors Association regional association has a convention in early spring and educational meetings.
- Roofing Contractors Association of Texas RCAT is a statewide trade association of roofing and waterproofing contractors. - Roofing Contractors Association of Washington Since 1965 RCAW has served a membership including residential and commercial contractors, manufacturers, distributors, and industry professionals. Holds and annual Expo. Seattle, WA.
- Western States Roofing Contractor Association has 800 members and runs a program to educate professional roofing contractors. It also accepts industry related associate members including manufacturers, distributors, architects, consultants, engineers and various other segments of the roofing and waterproofing industry.
Roofing Trade Shows
Trade shows are one of the most important means of educating roofing contractors about developments in material and in the business in general. The largest shows tend to cater to the commercial roofing contractor community, the smaller regional shows tend to be more focused on residential roofers.
- The International Roofing Expo combines both conference and exhibits. The show is managed and organized by Haney Woods, a trade magazine publisher and event management company and is the annual conference of the NRCA - the National Roofing Contractor Association. The show is dominated by displays of commercial roofing material but all of the manufacturers of residential roofing material are present as well. Held annually in February in Las Vegas.
- The METALCON International is sponsored by the Metal Construction Association, and is concerned with the use of metal in all types of construction. New roofing metal products are shown here. The show is held in October each year.
- Western Roofing Expo - run by the Western States Roofing Contractor Association, the Western Roofing Expo it typically held in Nevada in June, this year, June 20-23 at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. It is one of the largest regional shows and attracts well over 100 exhibitors.
Specialized Software
Roofers have specialized needs in the areas of design, architecture, finances and business. Software vendors have focused some applications on these specialized needs.

Roofing Consultants and Service Providers
